WATER IS DIGNITY

“Kenya is classified among the most water-scarce countries in the world. Water insecurity, along with a lack of sanitation and hygiene products and services, puts public health at risk, undermines economic growth, fosters political instability, and perpetuates inequalities.”*

In 2011 when we bought the land to build Heshima we had to install an infrastructure: electricity, roads, sewage and we also dug down 1000 feet to put in a well to provide water. Fast forward to 2023; we provide clean water to over 150 families per day. This is a game changer for these families in regards to health benefits and long-term lifespan – no more diarrhea, typhoid, and waterborne diseases that come from dirty water.

This year we also installed a high tech water filtration system into the well. This system ensures the water is tested and consistently meets bottled water standards. Before we had this system, our water was “clean” and met the standards of the community, but we went a step further and took out all the bad stuff… including dangerously high levels of fluoride that can cause brain damage and osteoporosis. We are so thankful to be able to provide this clean water, and so is the community!

“If anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones…that person will certainly not lose their reward.” Matthew 10:42 NIV
